Entering Grades 6-12.
Shakopee Community Education is teaming up with the Minnesota High School Cycling League (MNHSCL) to offer summer mountain bike sessions! The goal of these sessions is to empower youth through the sport of cycling, whether they have never ridden and want to learn how, are interested in cycling as a life-long sport, or aspire to race in the high school league. Certified instructors with the MNHSCL will teach mountain bike skills in a fun, friendly and safe environment. Riders will be bused to local trails twice a week to learn the skills needed to ride in this fun, social atmosphere (please note participants must ride the bus to and from the trails; they can't be dropped off or picked up at the trail). This new program is geared for students who have never been on a mountain bike, or who are new to mountain biking. Students may bring their own bike or utilize a bike provided by the league. Eligible riders will be entering grades 6-12 for the 2019-2020 school year.
Fee covers: Transportation, loaner bike, loaner helmet (if needed) and experienced instructors. Riders should bring their own helmet, hydration pack/water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, etc. Meets six times. Please bring required waiver to first session.
Bus will depart at 1pm from the West Middle School and will return at 4pm. A trailer will be provided for bikes.
